The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Social Policy and Legal Affairs has today launched an inquiry into online gambling and its impacts on people with gambling problems.

The inquiry will explore current legislation, consumer protections and support programs.

The State’s Independent Casino Commission has appointed five Casino Commissioners to lead the organisation. Philip Crawford, the current Chairperson of the Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority (ILGA), has been selected as Chief Commissioner of the NSW Independent Casino Commission (NICC).

The Tasmanian Government has announced that Maxgaming Holdings Pty Ltd has been awarded the exclusive Tasmanian Monitoring Operator Licence to provide and operate an Electronic Monitoring System and services to monitor all EGMs in hotels and licensed clubs in Tasmania.

From 1 September 2022 changes under the Gambling and Liquor Legislation Amendment Act 2022 come into effect.

Cashless gaming trial to be conducted in New South Wales, Australia to combat money laundering

In NSW a cashless gaming trial will commence in August and will run for 12 weeks. The initiative was announced by Liquor & Gaming NSW in 2021, as an initiative to combat money laundering and reduce gambling harm.
