Self Exclusion & Exclusion Programs

Individuals can undertake to become banned from gambling at particular venues or on websites, through a process known as Self-Exclusion. 

Self-Exclusion is a service offered in all Australian jurisdictions.  However aspects and requirements of the various self-exclusion (and exclusion) programs available vary.

Australian Capital Territory

Self-Exclusion is available from club, hotel, casino, bookmaker or ACTTAB outlet venues in the ACT.

The Star Casino, part of The Star Entertainment Group, runs a self-exclusion program for casino patrons as well as offering other  resources - including pre-commitment.

Northern Territory Self-Exclusion

A generic form of self-exclusion has been developed for use by Northern Territory gambling providers - including hotels, clubs and online providers (casinos have specific provisions in place).

Under the Northern Territory Responsible Gambling Code of Conduct application forms for self-exclusion must be available at the gambling venue or/and on the website of the gambling provider.

SKYCITY Darwin Self-Exclusion Program

SKYCITY Darwin offers self-exclusion as part of a suite of Host Responsibility measures.

  • exclude yourself from betting; or
  • place a limit on the amount you bet

Queensland

Queensland Exclusion Program

In Queensland all gambling providers are required to offer self-exclusion.

Queensland gaming venues can also initiate exclusion for patrons from gambling activities and may accept third party requests for venue initiated exclusion of the gambler.

Problem Gambling Family Protection Orders (PGFPO) Scheme

Under the Problem Gambling Family Protection Orders (PGFPO) scheme some third parties who are affected by a family member's gambling problem can make a complaint to the South Australian Independent Gambling Authority.

South Australian Barring (Exclusion) Program - Hotels, Clubs, Casino, SA Lotteries and Wagering (Betting)
In South Australia exclusion  (known as barring) from any form of commerical, licensed or authorsied gambling can be accessed through the South Australian Independent Gambling Authority (IGA).  
 
You can contact the IGA on (08) 8226 7233.  Information can also be sought from the gambling venue or provider.

Tasmania

Tasmanian Gambling Exclusion Scheme

In Tasmania the Gambling Exclusion Scheme (TGES) provides for self-exclusion from gambling, exclusion of the gambler by venue operators and exclusion of the gambler by third parties.
