Liquor Control Victoria has now been established to oversee liquor regulation, with the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC) to retain responsibility for gambling and casino oversight. Changes to improve the powers and functions of the VGCCC have also come into effect.

New chair appointed to Racing and Wagering WA
Racing and Gaming Minister Tony Buti has welcomed Karen Farley SC as the new chair of Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA). Ms Farley has been appointed for a term of three years starting on August 1, 2022.
Help for hospitality extended (NSW)
The NSW Government is providing extra support to the hospitality industry by extending free refresher courses into next year, in a bid to address staff shortages. This includes the Responsible Conduct of Gambling certificate (RCG).
Government invests to minimise gambling harm (NZ)
The New Zealand government has invested $76 million into a new Strategy to Prevent and Minimise Gambling Harm. The strategy will be funded by a problem gambling levy paid by non-casino gaming machine operators, casinos, the TAB NZ and New Zealand Lotteries Commission.
Significant milestone for Australia’s first national gambling self-exclusion register
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has engaged Engine to develop and operate the National Self-Exclusion Register, which will allow people to self-exclude from all licensed interactive wagering service providers in a single process.
